Customers using bus services between Ilkeston and Derby have been assured that service levels will remain the same following their sale to Wellglade – which also owns trent barton.
The purchase of the bus services, run by Stanley-based Felix, will not result in any job losses amongst the ten members of staff who work on the ilkeston flyer and black cat services.
Felix first offered its bus operations for sale some months ago and trent barton Managing Director, Jeff Counsell, said he was delighted the two companies had managed to reach an agreement.
“For many years we have worked closely with Felix to ensure that communities between Ilkeston and Derby receive a first class bus service,” he explained.
“As part of the deal we have purchased the ilkeston flyer and black cat buses and they will continue to operate as a distinct unit.”
The ilkeston flyer provides an express service into Derby whilst the black cat follows a route via Stanley and Chaddesden into the city centre. Mr Counsell added: “The same drivers will be working on the routes and there are no current plans to alter the frequency of services.
“We have nothing but respect for Felix and what their staff have achieved and we are delighted to be involved in a deal that benefits all concerned,” he said.
