Community groups to benefit from new ticket

Community groups in Radcliffe and Bingham look set for a cash windfall thanks to a new travel ticket being launched by bus company trent barton.

For every weekly ticket sold on the radcliffe line and xprss, which serve the two areas, trent barton will donate £1 to a special fund that has been set up by the company to help develop valuable community projects.

Explained the firm's Commercial Director Alex Hornby: "We are committed to supporting the communities we serve and we are now looking for projects in Radcliffe and Bingham to benefit from the new scheme.

"We would like to hear from anyone involved in a project that is making a real difference to the lives of local people. The project may involve a school, young people, the elderly or disadvantaged members of the community but it must be based in Radcliffe or Bingham."

Introduced this weekend (May 30) the new weekly tickets for travel between Radcliffe and Nottingham and Bingham and Nottingham are priced at £16 and £18 respectively.

Continued Alex: "Over the past year we have made donations to a number of charities across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, but this is the first time we have linked support directly to specific brands and local areas. It helps us to reinforce the proud links we have with the people and communities we serve.

"We are very excited about this initiative and looking forward to working with our partners in the community. At the same time, customers buying one of the new tickets will have the added satisfaction of knowing that £1 of their fare will be going to a very worthy cause," he added.

Anyone representing a project that would like to benefit from the scheme should contact Sarah Taylor at trent barton on 01773 536355.
