Free £5 Christmas present for Cathedral Quarter workers

We’re offering Derby Cathedral Quarter businesses and their staff  free bus travel in December to help with costs at this busy time of year.

Over a thousand people holding a ‘I Work in the Cathedral Quarter MANGO’ card are being offered a free £5 credit for bus travel in addition to the exclusive deals at neighbouring Cathedral Quarter businesses and further discounted bus travel.

Anyone with a “I Work in the Cathedral Quarter MANGO” card will be automatically credited with £5 on December 1st. To get a card, you need to be an employee within an organisation at the Cathedral Quarter and apply online at trentbarton.co.uk/mango. To qualify for the free £5, you need to have applied by 30 November 2013.

Alex Hornby, our Commercial Director, said: “We have a great working relationship with the Cathedral Quarter – providing both workers and visitors in the area who are Cathedral Quarter loyalty card holders with additional benefits through our joint Cathedral Quarter-MANGO initiative.

“This special £5 giveaway to all “I Work in the Cathedral Quarter MANGO” cardholders will hopefully encourage more people working in the Cathedral Quarter to use public transport, at a time of year when you often need that little bit of help with spending, and to encourage people to try the bus rather than get caught up in traffic queues and expensive car parking fees.

“With our buses running round the clock from early morning to late evening, and night buses until as late as 3am at weekends,  bus travel at this time of year is a cost effective and convenient option for travelling to and from work – especially when staff are no doubt working longer hours in the run up to Christmas. It also promotes a safe ‘don’t drink & drive’ message for everyone enjoying a well-deserved evening out in the Cathedral Quarter.”

Martin Langsdale, chair of the Cathedral Quarter management group, which drives forward activities under the area’s Business Improvement District status, added: “The Cathedral Quarter loyalty scheme has been one of the BID’s most popular initiatives since its original launch four years ago.

“The scheme was further developed this time last year with further benefits through trentbarton and their MANGO scheme as one of the first projects under the new five-year BID.

“Since then, over 1000 people who work in the Cathedral Quarter have signed up for a “I Work in the Cathedral Quarter MANGO” – encouraging them not only to support their fellow businesses but also to make better use of public transport both in their work and leisure time.

“We are delighted that trentbarton are offering a free £5 credit to all cardholders in December which is a marvellous incentive to take advantage of bus travel".
