Superheroes take to the buses

An assortment of superheroes have been taking over our buses but instead of fighting crime they’ve raised more than £2,500 for a very worthy cause.

As part of National Children’s Hospice Week, our staff dressed up as their favourite comic book characters, to the surprise of many customers.

our drivers Leanne Louch (Catwoman), Elaine Allitt (Wonder Woman) and Laura Pike (Superwoman) with Bow Bear the Rainbows Hospice mascot.

The money they raised will be donated to Rainbows Hospice, our adopted charity for 2012, and Marketing Manager, Sarah Taylor, thanked customers for their support.

“Once they got over the initial surprise of finding a superhero behind the wheel of their bus, they were very generous, so I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who made a donation,” she said.

Superhero-themed events have become a popular feature of the annual National Children’s Hospice Week, which helps hospices across the country to raise their profile and generate vital funds.

Sarah continued: “Rainbows is doing some fantastic work with children in our area. We wanted to do something for them and this seemed like a great idea.

“Everyone who took part really enjoyed dressing up. They certainly raised a smile as well as money for a very worthy cause.  I'd like to congratulate everyone each and every one of them!”
