trentbarton is the driving force behind charity walk

trentbarton has pledged to support the Treetops Moonlight Walk on Friday 17 June for the seventh year, providing safe transport for the hundreds of walkers who take part.

The Moonlight Walk, a 5k and 10k ladies-only event, raises thousands of pounds for Treetops Hospice Care which provides nursing care and emotional support for adults and their families in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.

trentbarton has been involved in the annual walk since it began in 2010, said marketing & communications manager Jordan Kemp:

“Our drivers and the whole company are very pleased to support Treetops by helping its walkers. They are the real heroines, walking through the night to raise vital funds for the Hospice’s outstanding work which benefits so many local families each year, including those of many of our staff and customers.”

The walk begins at the University of Derby at 10pm and trentbarton buses, with volunteer drivers, transport the 5k walkers safely back to the start, with 10k walkers going on to complete a round circuit.

The buses have always been a welcome sight, as community fundraiser Mary Rose explained:

“Without the trentbarton buses we simply couldn’t offer a 5k walk alternative as we would have to ask walkers to make their own way back to the start – so many women would drop out. We have lots of walkers who choose the shorter route, who perhaps aren’t as mobile or fit but still want to take part.

“There’s always a great atmosphere on the buses with the women chatting, feeling proud of themselves and having had a fun night.

“The generosity of trentbarton, year on year, has helped us to ensure that every penny raised by walkers can go back into the hospice and delivering our services to thousands of local people. We simply couldn’t do it without them!”
