New buses for the allestree are an instant hit

Brand new buses have been introduced on the popular allestree route in Derby as part of our £750,000 investment in new buses.

The buses are already proving a hit on the allestree, providing more space and comfort for passengers travelling on the high-frequency service into the city centre via the University.

Alex Hornby (centre) Commercial Director, Service Delivery Manager Tom Morgan, and Mr MANGO prepare to cut into a celebratory cake to mark the introduction of the new buses.

Built by British manufacturer Optare, the state-of-the-art Solo models boast a range of innovative features and Alex Hornby, Commercial Director, believes customers are already noticing a difference.

“For a start, the new buses can carry more people and they’re also quieter and more comfortable,” he said.

“All in all they make for a more pleasant journey, for more people, whilst being kinder to the environment thanks to the latest engine technology.”

Alex went on to say the investment reflected our success in tempting more people out of their cars.

“Over recent years we’ve seen customer numbers increase on this busy service that people use to get to work, go to the shops or meet their friends.

“As a result of this significant investment we hope even more people will discover the comfort and convenience of travelling by bus,” he added.
