Extra 'six' appeal for new-look buses

A bright new look for buses serving trentbarton land destinations between Derby, Belper, Matlock, Bakewell and Ripley has been unveiled.

The bright yellow sixes buses have recently benefited from a £110,000 refurbishment and now benefit from free, fast Wi-Fi, new comfy seats and on-board next stop displays.

Marketing and Communications Director, Alex Hornby, says the improvements are sure to prove a hit with customers. “With services every 15 minutes from Belper to the heart of Derby the service is ideal for commuters who will really appreciate the ability to stay online while they travel,” he explained.

“The sixes also serve the market town of Bakewell, as well as popular destinations such as Matlock, so they are also popular with people from Derby looking for a great day out.

“There are even late buses until 3.00am for anyone who wants to enjoy a night out in the city without the worry of having to drive home.”

The unveiling of the new buses coincides with the launch of a wide range of offers and ‘money-off’ deals designed to attract visitors to a host of popular tourist destinations along the sixes route.

“By using a zigzag ticket or a MANGO smart card, customers can enjoy discounts at cafés and shops along the sixes route,” Alex said.

A new zigzag choo choo ticket, run in conjunction with Ecclesbourne Valley Railway, entitles the holder to bus and train travel all day while the zigzag chatsworth includes money off the entry fee to the stately home estate. Alex added: “By introducing these offers and refurbishing our buses, we’re not only providing fantastic value for our customers but also demonstrating our commitment to businesses in the communities we serve.”
