We're live!

The bus company that brought you the money back guarantee, branded buses, the friendliest drivers in the business, the UK’s first application of WiFi on-board buses and coaches, the first touch-on, touch-off smartcard MANGO in Britain, and a pioneer of countless other initiatives is again playing its part as a trend-setter in its 100th year.

Yes, our locally-owned really good bus company is set to revolutionise bus travel across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire with the launch of a new state-of-the-art information service – trentbarton live.

Waiting at the bus stop could soon be a thing of the past as you’ll be able to time your journeys to perfection from the comfort of your own home, work or even the local café or pub.

trentbarton live will combine innovative vehicle-tracking technology with the latest developments in mobile communications to offer smartphone and tablet users up-to-the-minute information on departure times wherever they are.

Alex Hornby, our Commercial Director, explained: “Using our free website, which has been specially optimised for tablet or mobile use, as well as desktop and TV, customers can choose their usual stops, and the system will automatically notify them when the next few buses are on their way.

“The system will provide a real boost for people living in in small towns or rural areas where buses may be less frequent.

“Whether they’re in the country or city, customers will be able to decide when it’s best to leave for the bus stop or even if there’s enough time to order another pint!”

The cutting-edge technology behind trentbarton live will help us to know precisely where our buses are at all times, improving behind-the-scenes operations as well as making life easier for customers.

While the new system will not completely replace traditional timetables, it will also provide information for customers at bus stops equipped with special screens. Over the coming months, thanks to our partnership with local authorities throughout trentbarton land, more screens are to be installed at even more stops across the network.

At the same time, you’ll see our website has been upgraded to show live departure times across the network and GPS mobile users can use it to locate the nearest bus stops. It also provides a wealth of other information on services, including route maps and ticket offers.

Alex added: “We’re really excited about these new developments. As well as improving our offer to existing customers, we hope they will encourage more people to travel by bus.

“We may be celebrating our 100th anniversary this year, but we certainly like moving with the times when it comes to improving our service for our customers. It’s what being the really good bus company is all about.”
